Empowerment Program for Elementary Schools
So often when we have overwhelming emotions, when we feel powerless over our circumstances, we can struggle seeing that we have choices, that we can look at situations in more positive ways, that we can see that we do have some power in aspects of situations.
With all of the changes that Covid-19 has brought into our lives, personally, professionally, academically and socially, we have been overcome at times with intense feelings of sadness, anger, loneliness, powerlessness and maybe even hopelessness.
Oftentimes, it is much easier to help others with their situations than it is to help others with their situations than it is to help ourselves because we are not drowning in their feelings ... only our own. By helping others, we release those feel-good chemicals in our brains ... oxytocin, serotonin and dopamine, which by the way, also counteract the effect of cortisol (the stress hormone). We can feel empowered, happy, connected and hopeful.
Because of the many benefits to ourselves when helping others, Hope's Promise is offering virtual programs to schools and classrooms this fall of 2020.

HELP! Our therapy horses have REALLY been struggling since last March when their lives all changed because of a virus. They are usually the ones going out and helping people with therapy visits and programs, and since last spring, they can't. They have been feeling confused, sometimes scared, and angry that their lives aren't how they used to be, sad because they miss seeing all of their very many friends at nursing homes, schools and libraries. They are needing help from YOU! What has helped you through these challenging times ... if you've felt confused, scared, angry or sad? The horses want to know! They are looking for pen pals with whom they can write back and forth ... whether individually or in classrooms and schools. They want to drop in on your class Zoom meeting once a month (or marking period, depending upon the number of classes at your school) through the school year and hopefully meet you in person next June!
Each school gets one of our 4 miniature therapy horses as "their" horses for the school year. They will learn about:
Depending upon the number of classes/students in the school, students will have:
